My Experience in Learning English

I have been learning English for 10 years, started when I was on the third grade at elementary school. My goals in learning English is to get the 4 skills in English, they are reading, listening, writing and speaking. I wanted to be fluent in speaking English and I also wanted to be able to understand any kind of information in English deeply in a relatively short time. I started to be interested in English because of an RPG (Role Playing Game) titled Final Fantasy. The game is very challenging for me and the conversation in the game is displayed in English. I tried to understand what the character said in the game and the story line of the game by learning English, opening my dictionary etc. By degrees, I can understand some English text because of the game then I joined some English Competition when I was in Junior High School.

I’ve been taught by 6 English teachers. Each of them has their own teaching methods. One of my teachers is Miss Melly. She taught me when I was in Junior High School. She usually gives a kind of point by stamping student’s book if the students did a good work in home work or exam. Then the point could be used to increase student’s score. She is communicative and humble that made me respect her so much.

The most difficult part of English for me is Grammar. I rarely put so much attention in grammar while writing or speaking, and I feel that I need a grammar book to learn more about it. Unfortunately the price of the grammar book isn’t very friendly that makes me think twice or more to buy it because I also have another needs.

Right now I feel that my goals is still so far away, and the most thing that inhibit me is confidence and courage. I often feel not confident to speak in English with my friends or my teachers and I also feel afraid of mistakes, even though I know doing nothing is worse than doing a mistake. That is why I wanted to build up my confidence and increase my vocabulary so I can communicate in English better and understand more text, especially university-level text because I also wanted to continue my study abroad.

First of all, I’m sorry for my bad english, hope you understand this post haha.

Today I read my friend’s tumblr, it is bianda’s. I saw her post about a movie titled Wedding Dress which somehow attract me to watch the movie. Then I watched Wedding Dress and it is a really good, sad and touching movie. I can’t stand the scenes which made me cried all night (I watch the movie at night).

Well, the movie tells a story about a small family, it is a daughter and her mom, a single parent. Sora -the daughter- is a lonely kid whose mother is a busy wedding dress designer. The story shows a funny, ridiculous mom who try to make her daughter happy at the beginning. She wanted to pay her mistakes for leaving Sora all by herself *sometimes with her aunt with the things she bought for her such as a bike. Time by time, the movie showed whats really happened, the mom -Seo Go-eun- had a gastric cancer and her life won’t be any longer. She wanted to make Sora happy. That time she finally knows how is Sora doing at her school and her ballet class while she is working at the wedding dress store. Sora is some way have a problem with her friends and then she knows that her mother is dying.

Then why does the title is wedding dress? I think its because a wedding dress is Go-eun last thing gave to Sora. She wants Sora wears the dress at her wedding one day.

There are so may sad parts which made me cried, but I give 95 of 100 points for this movie, I’m sure if you watch this movie, you won’t be dissappointed. The movie really gets the emotion, and the music perfectly match, brings a beautiful harmony. This movie make me realize how meaningful mom is*I think you’ll feel the same. Prepare the tissues for your tears! Its time to cry LOL. Here is the trailer!! :D

Hari ini, Jumat 8 Juli 2011 saya memulai sebuah hal kecil *yang saya harapkan dapat menjadi hal besar suatu hari nanti yakni join tumblr!! Awalnya saya agak ragu apakah hal ini akan menyenangkan, tetapi ternyata…awesome!! Saya cukup menikmati kiprah pertama saya di dunia tumblr ini, semoga dapat menjadi ladang amal dengan berbagi pengetahuan serta pengalaman atau hal-hal lain untuk memenuhi tabung keisengan saya haha. Bismillah…tomorrow must be better than today!! :D
